Why Sagolicious?

Sago is a special type of starch extracted from the spongy centre of the Metroxylon sago tree, which sounds exotic because it's a totally tropical species of palm tree.
Found in low-lying forests and swamps throughout Southeast Asia, this savvy plant can survive where others can’t, naturally resistant to an uncertain climate and environmental disaster. It has long roots, allowing it to stand firm in floods, drought, and even dramatic temperature changes.

Sago has long been a staple ingredient for the people of Indonesia, harvested straight from nature without the need for environment-damaging agriculture or genetic modification. Remarkably, this incredible plant is also naturally resistant to pests, meaning no chemicals or pesticides are needed in the production of sago starch.
Ancient sculptures tell us sago has been used in Central Java for more than 5,000 years, woven into the social and economic fabric of Indonesia. Now, for every tree we harvest for the production of Sagolicious, we contribute to the prosperity of the local village where it was found.
